1. What is therapy like?
Therapy, also known as counseling or psychotherapy, is a collaborative process between a trained therapist and a client. It aims to help individuals cope with emotional, behavioral, or psychological challenges and improve their overall well-being.
Therapy is a bit different than the medical model, where a doctor may discuss solutions right away and play the expert role. We will work together in therapy to understand more about your issues and collaborate to gain insight into the solutions for change.
2. Why should I consider therapy?
Therapy provides a supportive and confidential environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a non-judgmental setting. It can help with numerous issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, stress management, trauma, and personal growth. It is important to note that therapy can help many individuals with various challenges. Sometimes, people may feel that because they have not suffered significant trauma, they may not be fit for therapy, but that is not the case. If you have come here, chances are you are in need of support no matter what your circumstances may be.
3. What do you specialize in?
I have worked with a variety of different individuals with various challenges. I have also worked with people from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and cultures. Because my knowledge base and experience are expansive, I have the ability to understand your needs and work with you to create positive change in your life. 4. How much experience do you have?
I have been working in the field of mental health since 2011. I have been practicing at a clinical level since 2017. I have experience working in various settings, including outpatient services, inpatient services, community mental health clinics, crisis services, residential treatment centers, foster homes, home childcare services, preschools, hospitals, child welfare, adolescent treatment, early childhood centers, elementary schools, maximum security/forensic institutions, early intervention, teletherapy, and home visiting therapy,
5. What is your style or approach in therapy?
Therapeutic approaches that I implement are strength-based, psychodynamic, emotionally focused, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, person-centered, cognitive behavioral, compassion-focused, attachment-based, and trauma-focused.
In therapy, it is helpful for you to recognize that you possess the knowledge and solutions within yourself. I strive to create a secure atmosphere of acceptance and comfort that encourages you to explore and reach those realizations while also providing gentle guidance to help you discover solutions when needed.
6. Is therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is a vital aspect of therapy. Therapists are legally and ethically bound to uphold client confidentiality except in certain situations, such as when there is an imminent risk of harm to self or others. 7. How much does your therapy cost?
Therapy costs can vary depending on payment options. Some therapists accept insurance or offer sliding scale fees based on income.
I accept the following health insurance plans: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Colorado, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Cigna, Oscar Health, Oxford, and United Healthcare.
I accept self-pay fees of $75 per 50-minute session
I accept sliding scale fees if you receive low-income

8. Will your therapy solve all my problems?
Therapy is not a magical fix for all problems, but it can provide support, guidance, and tools to help navigate and overcome challenges. Having realistic expectations and working together to set achievable goals can be helpful.
9. Are your therapy sessions only held online?
In the past, I have offered services in person. However, at this time I offer televideo only. I offer services to clients residing statewide in Colorado, Michigan, and Illinois.
10. What can I expect from the free 15-minute consultation session?
During a free 15-minute therapy consultation, you can expect to have an initial conversation with me in which you can briefly discuss your main concerns or reasons for seeking therapy. I will likely ask questions to get a general understanding of your situation, and they may also provide some initial feedback or guidance. However, keep in mind that due to the short time frame, it is unlikely to delve deep into specific issues or receive a comprehensive therapy session. This consultation mainly aims to determine if you and I are a good fit for each other and if therapy may be beneficial for your needs. 11. What can I expect from the first therapy session?
The initial session allows you and I to get to know each other, establish rapport, and discuss your concerns and goals. I may ask questions about your background, medical history, or previous therapy experiences. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have.
12. I’m really nervous about setting up therapy. What should I do?
It is expected to feel nervous and even overwhelmed about setting up therapy. Setting up a consultation appointment can be helpful to discuss any fears you may have. I proactively work to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable. It is tough to take this first step but once you do, you will be able to feel some relief knowing that you have the opportunity to feel safe and supported.
